The learned man did not fall from the sky. Upskilling creates teams of the future

According to posts on professional networks, the need to ''amp;amp; amp; amp; is huge in today's high-pressure market. People are overstereaching years of preparation and taking on challenging positions. That's what the market wants. Everyone must be a superman or guru and acquire hundreds of skills in professional quality. Preferably by tomorrow. However, as is often the case on social media, this is not entirely true and we only see certain extremes of the spectrum.
Despite the huge number of possible skills, it doesn't change that much in the everyday world. The learned still did not fall from the sky, and junior, medior and senior can learn new skills.

A good person will grow with your company and your opportunity is to help him in this. But if his position is so-called small and he doesn't get the space to grow, he may run away beautifully. Luckily, there's upskilling. A way to sustainably develop passionate employees and not give them a reason to leave.

What is and why upskilling?

If we take it really ''dry'' definition, we can say that upskilling is a systemic environment for deepening competences. If we try to describe it a little less mechanically, it will be about preparing people for the future by improving them in the skills you require of them and, moreover, in those that are being marketed. In short, you make sure that the person is constantly holding his finger on the pulse of the time and is ready to react. You want to eliminate the moments when your people haven't heard of something in the industry, and they're surprised. Yes, in today's ocean of information, it can sometimes be complicated, but not in vain upskilling is considered to be the education of the future that will help you not drown in it.

In short: Upskilling is designed to compensate for differences in skills and knowledge caused by age or digitalisation.


How do you handle the whole thing?

1. Internal education. As the first way to meet these upskilling goals, classic training in your company is logically offered within your existing strategic training programme. By setting it up correctly, you can respond agilely to the new needs of the market and your teams.

2. Rotation of workers. Another powerful tool may be to move selected employees to new positions or departments. The condition is that the level of responsibility, but the colourfulness of the necessary skills, does not change. In most cases, the move is temporary and serves to deepen the context and understand the connections between the different positions and the content of the work.

3. Add responsibilities. You can think of this method as extending the worker's role to new tasks. Again, the worker does not move vertically, but horizontally. I mean, he's doing the same work enriched with other demands. In this case, it is useful to better train the individual.

4. Mentoring by a senior. The assignment of a mentor in the form of a more experienced colleague can also be a natural and non-violent way of upskilling. The advantage of this approach is to build better relationships in the workplace and learn directly in practice.

5. Educational project with external coach. We recommend that you reach for this solution if your requirements are so specific that you are unable to deliver them internally. These can be expert skills that you need to pass on quickly or you simply do not have know-how. Ideally, after working as an independent externalist in the company, you will be left with the skills and direction on which you will continue to build your internal education.

Digital age

Of course, some of the above steps can be done completely online, and the emphasis on digital will definitely not go anywhere in the future, and in addition to skills, you will have to teach your employees and colleagues to the programs, systems and products themselves. Therefore, it is advisable to incorporate high-quality online LMS into the upskilling process to ensure a smooth transition of consciousness to the online space.
